Tired Colonial turned Modern Farmhouse

2021 Capital Award Merit Winner, Whole House Remodel over $1,000,000

This dated colonial was purchased for its spectacular setting, but an awkwardly placed mudroom and poorly designed second floor blocked views of the vineyard and mountains. “Builder grade” windows and exterior materials were at the end of their useful life.  A rear two-story addition created special spaces. The master suite was expanded with glass on all sides and a new mud room and breakfast area created functional space with views. The basement and outdoor spaces are an entertainer’s dream.  Black windows, board and batten siding, standing seam roof, and a front porch transformed the tired colonial into a modern farmhouse.
